We may sometimes worry that God’s promises for us will go to someone else. After all that’s how the world works: if you snooze, you lose! However I believe that the promises of Christ for each of us will not pass us by – as long as we remain in His presence. My dearly departed mother would often encourage me by saying the Jamaican proverb: “Wha a fi yuh, a fi yuh!” The English translation is: “What is for you will always be yours.” Every time she said it, I would feel a sense of calm that I was not forgotten. I knew that my own (whatever it was) would still get to me. So, you just need to believe that what Jesus has for you is yours alone.
