Your Name is Victory!

Happy New Year! Happy 2019! I started this year with a lot of zest and hope. I had a wonderful “Watch Night” service at my church.1 I rang in 2019 in the House of God, I started it right. So, January 1st was great, but then…January 2nd started to get weird. I then came under a lot of attacks on both the physical and spiritual levels.  I thought: this was not supposed to happen – not in a year full of promise! So I had to go before the Lord to ask what was happening, and I thank God that He gave me a revelation. Have you had a similar experience? I want you to know that your name is Victory!

The Revelation

The Holy Spirit led me to Ada’s “The Victory Song” on YouTube. As the song played, Jesus began to download the main points of this article to me. I am so grateful for His Holy Spirit inside of me, I am immensely grateful!2

You see, 2019 is indeed a year of breakthroughs. It is the culmination of many things that started in 2018. But we know at least one set of entities that aren’t happy about that – Satan and his minions. So in this season of great expectations and new beginnings, they have doubled their efforts. The tactic is to frustrate us , tempt us to sin and to forsake our divine purpose in Christ. Remember, the three-fold mission of our adversary is to steal, kill and destroy. But do not be scared by such activities. Stand firm in the fact that you are more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus!3 Speak abundant life over yourself, over every area of your life, and over your family, friends and associates! And believe it!4

However you will need to do more than confess and believe this abundant life and blessings over yourself. Faith without works is dead. For a Kingdom citizen, faith is not a noun but a verb! In this year 2019, the Spirit of God revealed that we must be prepared to do some things. Let’s explore them!

Make Time for Him

We cannot expect to get the benefits of the Kingdom without being in the presence of our King Jesus. This means that you will need to choose a time slot that you devote to your Sovereign. If you are to be victorious in 2019, then you must sit at Jesus’ feet. You will then be empowered and instructed on the divine strategies to overcome these evil devices. The more time you spend with Jesus, the better you will be as a person and as a productive member of our royal priesthood.5

Spend Time in His Word

The Bible is our daily bread as Kingdom citizens.6 It is our guidebook, our inspiration, the living, breathing Word of our King. As you read the Word, you will learn more about His nature. You will also discover His intentions towards you. You will grow from a babe to full proficiency in His Word.7 The Word of God is very important:

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man [or woman] of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17, NKJV.

Pray

Prayer is our primary means of communicating with Jesus. My mother often told me that you don’t have to kneel and close your eyes to pray. Jesus is Omnipresent, so you can talk to Him at any time. In this season of blessings and conflict, we must pray always. Don’t complain, pray! Don’t cry, pray! Never let anger overtake you, pray! Don’t let any spirit of depression sit on you, pray! It doesn’t have to be any complex prayers. As my mother told me, just talk to Jesus, like you would talk to a physical person. Simple, humble and heartfelt prayers are the most effective ones.8 In this season, we must all be prepared to pray without ceasing.9 Get in the habit of speaking with Jesus throughout your day. Pray always, all the time!

Fast

Yes, fast! I do not mean staying away from your favorite TV programs, I mean staying away from food. If you have no medical conditions that stop you from fasting, then fasting must be a part of your life. Dry fasting (no food, no water) is difficult. However it is possible and it is very effective. Jesus gave us the example of dry fasting, which empowered Him to resist the devil’s temptations and triumph over the adversary.10 As you practice dry fasting, you too will be supercharged in your spirit to have complete victory.

Pray and ask Jesus to help you fast. He will definitely empower you to do so – He does it for me. I usually tell persons to gradually build up their ability to fast. You can start out with a water-only fast, slowly increasing the hours each time. Then you graduate to a dry fast, and again, slowly increase the hours each time. The key is consistency and dedication to the process. As you fast from the pleasures of food, you master the core of your fleshly desires and strengthen your spirit to be triumphant.

Beware of Sins/Legal Grounds

Sin is not just a matter of violating God’s instructions. Sin is indeed dangerous as it leads to death – spiritually, naturally and eternally. However, sin also gives the devil legal grounds to block you from attaining your blessings and breakthroughs. Once the Spirit of God convicts you of any sin, you must immediately repent of it. Repentance does not only mean confessing your sins and telling Jesus that you’re sorry. You must stop that indulging in that sin as well. Again, ask Jesus for His grace to overcome that sin.

I encourage all of us to be aware of our areas of weakness. For example, if you are sensitive, then the spirit of offense can make you unforgiving, bitter and exhibit hatred. Repent of these sins, and rebuke that spirit of offense in Jesus’ name! If you are prone to anger, it will likely lead you to sin in thoughts, words and deeds. Again, repent of these sins and rebuke that spirit of unholy anger in Jesus’ name!11 Regardless of the sin (lying, fornication, adultery, envy, idolatry, etc.), repent of them and rebuke those spirits in the name of Jesus and by the Blood of Jesus! Next, do a replacement. Replace all of these weaknesses with all of the dimensions of the Fruit of the Spirit.12

We have come too far to be derailed by sins. The grace of Jesus Christ is sufficient for us to triumph over sins. We will possess our possessions in Jesus’ name! We are victorious in Christ!

Have Faith in Christ

Faith is essential if we are to accomplish divine purpose in 2019.13 We must never be led by what we see. We do not rely on our physical eyes, but on our spiritual ones. We walk by faith and not by sight!14 Have steadfast faith that all that God has declared concerning you will happen!15 You won’t know exactly how and when these promises will manifest, but they will. I want you to walk in full faith, in full assurance into the new areas that Jesus is calling you into. I want you to know that regardless of what it looks like, your Daddy’s got you!

Persevere

My mother always said: “Perseverance makes thee conquer!” You are at the edge of your breakthroughs. Hold on! Persevere! Don’t give in! Don’t give up! There’s a great song by King and Country called “It’s Not Over Yet” that always encourages me when I feel like giving up. Give it a listen!

The struggles will not overtake you, you will make it. You will overcome. You are victorious. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the full armor of God as outlined in Ephesians 6 to be able to stand against the devil’s tactics! Remember:

“Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give [the enemy] into our hands.”
1 Samuel 17:47, NKJV

So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west,
And His glory from the rising of the sun;
When the enemy comes in like a flood,
The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.
Isaiah 59:19, NKJV

“The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
Exodus 14:14, NKJV

I encourage you to hold on to your faith in Christ, be steadfast in your attention to the things of God. As you run after Jesus Christ relentlessly, the blessings that you are seeking will run after and overtake you!16 Your name is Victory! Greater is Jesus Christ in you than any other force that opposes you!17 You are victorious in Jesus’ name! Victory is yours for 2019! Your name is Victory! Hallelujah!

Blessings, peace and wisdom upon you,
Sophia.
